Weitzman Wows With Testino Campaign

(NEW YORK) Stuart Weitzman brought on a heavyweight photog-model duo of Mario Testino and Natalia Vodianova for the brand’s fresh-faced ad campaign. Keeping the emphasis firmly on Weitzman’s shoes, the ads are in B&W, with but one article of clothing in each shot. The shoot took place in London’s White Space studio in December.

‘We wanted dramatic and breathtaking art that would cut through the clutter of creative out there,’ explained Susan Duffy, SVP of global marketing and communications at Stuart Weitzman, of signing with celebrated ad agency Lipman in the fall. As for pairing up with Testino, ‘he doesn’t need explanation!’ said Duffy. ‘Mario captured the essence of Stuart Weitzman, and the ads tap into the sexiness of the brand in a classic, chic, timeless way.’

Vodianova’s rich, real life, as a mother of three and well-established career, combined with her ‘approachable beauty that women don’t feel intimidated by’ rendered her the parfait face (and body) of the campaign. Besides featuring a new direction artistically, the ads feature the brand’s refreshed ‘Stuart Weitzman New York’ logo, a nod to the brand’s quarter century based in N.Y.C. and in the biz.

The ads hit March issues in a chic glossy glut—Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Interview, and InStyle—and will roll out on the streets via billboards and beyond. Outdoor billboards will crop up in L.A., Miami, and downtown in Soho in Weitzman’s NYC stomping grounds. ‘Natalia with a hat and shoes on, and nothing else: Picture that on Sunset Boulevard! We might cause accidents,’ Duffy said of the domestic rollout. Additionally, the campaign will appear in airports in Milan and kiosks in Paris. The latest ad efforts came to fruition with a budget double the size of Weitzman’s previous campaigns.

Stuart Weitzman Taps Natalia Vodianova for Spring

By LISALOCKWOOD

KICK OFF: The Stuart Weitzman spring campaign features Russian model Natalia Vodianova wearing little more than her ‘Stuarts.’ The black-and-white images were shot by Mario Testino under the creative direction of David Lipman. Vodianova was chosen as the face of the brand not only because of her sex appeal, but because of her approachable girl-next-door allure, according to the company. The campaign also introduces the new logo design ‘Stuart Weitzman New York.’ The company will spend $3.5 million this spring, double last year’s budget, said a spokeswoman. Ads will run internationally in March in the U.S., Italy, France, Spain and Asia. In the U.S., ads will appear in Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar, W, Interview and InStyle.”

“Stuart Weitzman unveils Million Dollar Oscars shoe for 2012
1 February 2012 At 3:53 Pm

Stuart Weitzman has been whipping up a storm every year at the Oscars for ten years now with his iconic Million Dollar Shoes: a new shoe created for every ceremony, gifted to one lucky Academy Award-nominated lady each time. This year, Weitzman is celebrating the anniversary of the tradition with a suitably extravagant new style, aptly name “The Millionairess”.

Pictured above modeled by Natalia Vodianova, the 2012 edition is a delicate sandal made with Swarovski crystal straps with an elegant tear-drop detail at the front. It is available exclusively at Stuart Weitzman boutiques this month, currently on sale in the US for $595 (£375). The original ‘Million Dollar Shoe’, which debuted at the Academy Awards in 2002, was adorned with 464 diamonds.

We can’t yet reveal which Hollywood hopeful will be dressed in the sparkling shoes on Oscars night itself, but we certainly hope this year’s shoes will fare better than the pair designed for Juno star Diablo Cody back in 2008: the screenwriter caused a stir when she shunned the Weitzman pair in favour of some gold flatties she’d chosen herself, claiming in her blog that she did not condone this type of extravagance. The resulting furure led to Weitzman putting his Million Dollar shoe project on ice for a year in 2010. Are you glad to see them back?”

Stuart Weitzman Revamps ‘Million Dollar Shoe’

By KRISTIGARCED

DIAMONDS ON THE SOLES OF HER SHOES: Stuart Weitzman’s infamous ‘Million Dollar Shoe’ — which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year — will make another comeback, just in time for Oscar season. The original version, which debuted at the 2002 Academy Awards on ‘Mulholland Drive’ star Laura Harring, was adorned with 464 diamonds. With an updated design, the 2012 edition, dubbed the ‘Millionairess,’ comes detailed with Swarovski crystal straps and a crystal tear-drop. The sandal, featured in a new advertising campaign with Natalia Vodianova and shot by Mario Testino, will be available nationwide exclusively at Stuart Weitzman boutiques in February for $595.”
